CANNED FRUITS. LONDON, August 9. Mr Cox says he has sold the whole of the seaaon’a pack, totalling 75,000 cases, of canned fruits, at prices which he says will repay the Federal Government’s guarantees, and will leave a substantial dividend for the growers.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

AUSTRALIAN WHEAT FREIGHTS. LONDON, August 9. Australian wheat freights are firm. Several steamer fixtures have been arranged for September and October at £3 15e per ton. —A. and X.Z. Cable. UNITED STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY. Tho United Starr-Bowkett Building Society's monthly meeting ,of directors was held on Tuesday evening. Mr E. A. Roseveor, chairman of directors, presided. He stated that a further dividend of £3 per share was being paid in No. 1 group, making the total £iu to date, and it was expected to be able to pay another £2, making a total of £l2 per share. The proposed new No. 6 group had now 349 shares applied for, thus giving promise of a very early start. He expressed satisfaction at the continued success and progress of the society, proving that it was doing what it set out to do—namely, provide homes for its members.
