To obtain the services of a washer-woman was a matter or real difficulty a few months ago, but the position is now different. On . Wednesday last a resident of Northland inserted an advertisement in The Poet for a washer-woman, and within 10 minutes of the publication of the first edition a woman was engaged by telephone. During the evening the advertiser was communicated with by nine other women, several of whom , stated that at the present time there were many women looking for work. If the high traditions of sport, are to bo maintained, and Rugby is to occupy the prominent place to which it is entitled in the world of athletics, all conduct that is calculated to bring it into disrepute must be rigorously suppressed. The Rugby Union, by making an example of a serious offender, Will do much to protect the game from such abuses as will tend to bring about its extinction.
