THE BOOKING OF SEATS, TO THE EDITOB.
Sib, —In view of the great dissatisfaction which seems to exist concerning the booking of seats in the grandstand for the forthcoming test match, may I be allowed to make a suggestion for future occasions ? Invite applications from all those wishing to reserve seats to be accompanied by the price of the seat, together with a stamped and addressed envelope, and distribute the seats by ballot, returning the money to those who are unsuccessful. This would save a great deal of dissatisfaction and waiting in the streets all night for tickets. —I am, etc., Disappointed. Outram, August 9.
THE OTAGO TEAM TO TItE EDITOB.
Sir, —The Otago football team is not fully representative ot the football strength of the province of Otago. It ig only representative of Dunedin club football. Why should this team be styled an Otago representative team? Why not take its proper name —Canterbury v. Dunedin, Southland v. Dunedin, and so on, unless we have an Otago provincial team?
I understand it is now some years since we have had an Otago team —back in the days of Dwyer, of Central Otago, Ongloy and Curren, of North Otago. Why not pick the best team the province can produce, and not the best team Dunedin can produce to represent us? The best team in New Zealand to-day—namely, Canterbury—had three country men in it when it the Springboks ;—it is therefore a provincial (not a Christchurch) team. Surely the O.R.F.U. could take a leaf from others’ books, and get the best team. —I am, etc., Otago Province. Oamaru, August 9.
