THE RETIRING LIMIT. (Pbb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 9. It is reported that the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants is strongly urging that all public servants eligible to retire after over 40 years’ service should be retired. The question of retrenchment in the public sendee was discussed at the various branch meetings, and the opinion expressed that before anything else is done in that direction, men of over 40 yee-s’ service, entitled to retire, should be cahed upon to do so. A strong protest was made against the dismissal of men not entitled to pensions, ns long ns those after the age of retirement are retained.
