AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. YESTERDAY’S PLAY. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 8. In the New Zealand Billiard Champion ship N. Smith (Christchurch) beat E. A Barrett (Akaron), 656 to 369. D. Fredatovitch (Auckland) beat A, F Anderson (Dunedin), 666 to 202.

An interesting exhibition billiard match will be clayed in the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ 'Club rooms this evening. The players are Messrs C. Burtensliew and A. Lindsay, both plovers of first-class repute. Tne occasion marks the formal opening of the club’s new standard match table, the gift of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association. All members of the club are invited to attend.
