FIRE AT NEW PLYMOUTH.

CHILD’S NARROW ESCAPE. (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 11. A two-storoyed wooden house on Mango rei road was completely destroyed by fire early this afternoon. A child 10 months old had a narrow escape. When the tiro was discovered an alarm was given, and a small tiro engine was despatched from the central station; but, the brigade could do nothing to stay the destructive progress of the flames, as the house was out of the area served by water mains. Within an hour only the chimneys remained standing. The house was owned by David Rea. who only recently retired from his farm in die Uruti_ district. _ Constable Parkinson had been in occupation as a tenant, and a week ago Rea moved into the house. There *s a policy of £I2OO in the Yorkshire office on the house. There is no insurance on Rea’s furniture, 'but Parkinson’s furniture is covered by a policy for £l5O.
