PRESIDENT HARDING MOVES.
BIG POWERS APPROACHED. WASHINGTON, July 10. (Received July 11, at 8.40 p.m.) It is announced that President Harding has approached Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan to ascertain whether they are willing to participate in a conference on the subject of the limitation of armaments to be held in Washington at a time to be mutually agreed ujion. If the proposal is found to be acceptable, formal invitations to such conference will be issued. The text of the inquiry addressed the Powers states: “lb is manifest that the question in regard to the limitation of armaments has close relation of the Pacific and Far Eastern problems, and the President suggests that the Powers specially interested should undertake in connection with this conference consideration of all matters bearing on their solution with a view of reaching a common understanding in respect of the principles and policies of the Far East.” China also has been invited to particb pate in a discussion on Far Eastern problems.—A. and N.Z.
