VISIT FROM TIMARU SAVAGE CLUB.

A band of about 20 warriors from the South Canterbury Savage Club arrived in Dunedin on Saturday for the purpose of paying a return visit to tbo Dunedin Orphans’ Club, and flie resultant function, which was held in St. Paul’s Schoolroom at night, proved a great success. The proceedings were opened with a selection by the Orphans’ Orchestra, under the eouduetorship of Bro. Coombs, followed Ivy the club's opening ode. Bro. G. ’W. MTntosh (president) extended a very hearty welcome to the visiting braves from Timaru. and then, as the visitors were providing the entertainment.’ he handed over the control of the proceedings to Great Chief Wothcrspoon. Commander-in-Chief of the Savages. The entertainment which was submitted turned out to bo a most attractive one, and it was greatly enjoyed by the Orphans, who turned out in large force to honour the visitors. Good feeling and cordiality characterised the gathering from beginning to end, and there was an absenro of formality that placed everyone at his ease and gave a pleasantly homely air to the proceedings. The programme was supplied by the following:—Savage Hold gate (song), Savages MiTer, Delatour, and Hilde (instrumental trio). Savage Crenrer (song). Savage Watson (recitation). Savage 0 (onnor (monologue). Savage Andrews (songs), Savage Doull (stories), orchestral selection. Savage Radcliffo (soim). Savage Deintour (violin solo). Savage Trott (song), • avage Tennant (song). Towards tbo elos" of the evening several items were also rendered by the Orphans’ Quartet Party. Yesterdav the visitors wore the guests of the local club members on motor trips to various points of interest in the country, and. as tbo dnv was beautiful's- fine, they greatly enjoyed themselves. The ravages will leave for the north this morning.
