DRUMMOND PLOUGHING MATCH.
Tho annual Drummond ploughing match was held on Wednesday in a very suitable paddock on Mr Gordon Lindsay’* farm. Tnrre was quite a good attendance, but, unfortunately, the liberal prize list did no* attract more than six team"-, lour in the open double-furrow class and two in lire pla n ploughing. William Allison, die youngest ploughman on the ground, and only a buy, won the president's challenge cup for the champion lot on tho neld. Messrs W. A. Gray (Wallacotown) and David Hardy (Waikiwi) wore tho judges of ploughing, and Messrs James Ryan (Buyswater) and James O’Brien (Nightcaps) were the judges of the horses and specials. Tho president of lire association (Mr John Kincaid) was unavoidably absent, but Mr Buckingham was quite equal to attend to all the duties of both president and secretary in his usual capable manner. Tho following is tho prize list: Class A (open, double furrows). First prize £G an 1 £1 Is trophy, second £5 ss, third £3 worth of trophies, fourth £2. —1, William Allison ploughman, Arthur Allison owner; 2 James Lindsay ploughman, John Lindsay owner; 3 James M’Lean ploughman, David Jones owner; 4 John Gatelcy ploughman, Alex. Hamilton owner. B'st break, William Allii/son; beat finish, William Allison; straightost ploughing, A. Gateley. Class D (plain ploughing).
