The Tom Mix Company which made ‘ The Cyclone,'’ the now William Fox production that will open at the King’s ’J lioalro today, is unique for its sheer size. It includes 13 cowboys, one director, two assistant directors, two cameramen, two property men, one clerk, and one photographer. Few motion picture companies aro so large. Many producers carry no standing company at all, but employ people as tho need arises in making now "pictures. But in addition to his “steady company, ’’ Tom Mix . . . the whole town of Mixviff’o, near Los ir.elos, which represents a very largo inveci i.e-nt. Ho has more than 60 head of horse..? and many donkeys and cattle, to say nothing o£ his fine Esquimaux dogs. Among tho cowpunohors who surround Tom Mix, and make his pictures the greatest dealing with virile western life, aro men who have ridden the ranges of almost every county in tho groin, southwest. ilis men are picked cowboys, far superior in skill and knowledge to the average “hand” on a ranch. His own immense energy and courage being supplemented by such an excellent company, it. i? small wonder that Tom Mix turns out plays that aro peerless in their olasa. Tho real thing is rarely exciting enough for Ids adventure-loving spirit, and ho often invents situations that x>ut his skill and daring to an acid test, “The Cyclone’’ is consequently replete with thrills. A fine supporting programme will ho shown in conjunction, containing no less than three other star films.
