NEGOTIATIONS FOR RECONCILIATION. LONDON. July 7. (Received July 8, at 9.30 p.m.) The Daily Mail states that negotiations are proceeding between the Vatican and' the Italian Government for tho purpose of reconciliation, enabling Italy to appoint a Minister to the Vatican, thus making it possible for the Pope to end his self-imposed seclusion in tho Vatican. Under the plan at present being considered the Pope would recognise the King of Italy as the sovereign of Rome and all tho former Papal Dominions except portion of the city which would become absolute Pontifical* territory. It is also proposed that 10,000 acres of the Monte Mario District be added to the Papal Dominions creating a separate Papal State. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
