NO DECISION' REACHED. EMIGRATION PROPOSALS. LONDON, Julv 6. (Received July 8, .at 1 a.m.) The conference met the Treasury and discussed reparations. No decision wax reached. It is understood that Mr Hughes and Mr Massey are not displeased with the proposed basis of distribution for Australia and New Zealand. It is reported that the British Crown colonies are taking 80 per cent., the balance being spread over India and the dominions. The Emigration Committee reported favourably on the Government proposals. Australia and New Zealand are willing to co-operate with the British Government in the matter of assisted passages, and also in financing land settlors. Canada is passively acquiescent and South Africa is standing out, being opposed to encouraging immigrants without capital.— A. and N.Z. Cabld.
