AMUSEMENTS

“The Idol Dancer,” a’picture which reproduces the atmosphere of the South Sea Islands with an extraordinary degree of realism, is the reigning attraction at the Queen’s and King Edward Theatres, where it was witnessed by large and admiring audiences on Saturday. The picture is the product of the D. W. Griffith studios, and it fully maintains the standard of its many fine predecessors. It will be shown again to-day. A strong attraction has been secured by the management of the Octagon Theatre in “The Keeper of the Door,” a fine film version of the popular novel by Ethel M. Dell. The picture will be screened again tonight, and it is sure to be enjoyed by patrons. As usual, the orchestral music’ is a feature of the entertainment. The current programme of pictures at Everybody’s Theatre found favour with large audiences on Saturday afternoon and evening. Heading the bill is a realistic Italian story called “An Alien,” with George Beban in the leading role, and there are, in addition, a numbbr of other good pictures . Ethel Olayton is at present appearing in the drama, ‘'Crooked Streets,’’ which is on view at O’Brien’s Empire Theatre, where it is being appreciatively received by picture lovers. A pleasing variety of other subjects, as well as a good musical programme, makes the entertainment very attractive. The chief picture on the current bill at the Grand and Plaza Theatres is “The Daredevil,” an exciting film featuring Tom Mix in many thrilling and wild escapades. The supporting programme includes a fresh instalment of the serial picture, “Elmo thq Feariess.” in which the strong man of “Ini tolerance” fame goes through more exciting adventures.
