MADAME STRATHEARN. A.R.A.M.

Madame Strathearn, whq has devoted her powers of song to the’ West Ham Missiom free of charge for six months, has attracted and delighted large audiences in the North Island, and is to visit this city early next month. in , the interests of the mission she represents. Her .first recital will be given in His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday, April 2v Oh ©the following day she will sing and speak' at Trinity Church in the morning, at the Hanover Street Baptist Church in the evening,, and at an after-church rally ’in the Central Mission Hall at 8 o’clock. The Mayor will extend her a civic welcome on the Monday morning at 10, and she will address the Women’s Club at 3 in the afternoon. She will give her popular recitals at His Majesty’s Theatre on the 4th and sth ult., and will address a women’s rally in Burns Hall on the afternoon of the sth. when Mrs Don (president of, the W.C.T.U.) will occupy the chair. Sister Kathleen, who accompanies Madame Strathearn, will also speak on behalf of the, work with which she has been closely associated for many years. Madame Strathearn did splendid service among the troops during the war in connection with the T.M.C.A., and arranged the first musical performances that were held in France for the New Zealand Forces. She is credited with having a contralto voice of great power and rich quality, which she uses very effectively, both in song and recitation. She gives imitations of the cornet and trombone, which are said to be marvellous in their accuracy. Madame Strathearn and Sister Kathleen are collecting for the extension of the work carried on in the poorest part of London, and hope to take a goodly sum back with- them from this prosperous and generous country.
