“THE KEEPER OF THE DOOR.”

Owing to the popularity of “The Keeper - of the Door,” which has been screening at . the Grand and Plaza Theatres for the past three days, the picture ia being transferred to the Octagon Theatre, where it will be shown until next Tuesday. The picture_ is ■ a work worthy of a British firm, no pains having been snared to obtain settings at once in keening with the movement of the story and as lavish as the picture patron could desire. The in India, are particularly admirable. The film oloeely _ follows the actual novel, and the cast is a strong one, every participant being fully equal to the part undertaken. Even, the best of moving picture dramas, where action is so necessary, rarely rise to the level of “The Keeper of the Door,’/ incident following incident with great rapidity, and dramatic situations of telling character aris ing again and again till turbulent passion, subsides and all ends in complete understanding between the doctor hero and .the heroine, whose belief in “the open door” has cost her ao much. In cold print some of the details of the story are not such Ift would appeal to any matter-of-fact person, but as viewed in the rapid progress of the . film, where the mind is occupied so much ■ with the general ensemble, these are largely lost, and a sense of pleasure remains, the settings being so artistically arranged and the acting of such a high standard. The lover of sensation, however, has feast' . enough, and the picture is thus one with a wide appeal to all sections of the motion, picture public.
