NEW YEAR DISTURBANCE.
SIXTEEN NATIVES CHARGED. (Pkb Pbbss Association. 1 . GISBORNE, March 1. As a sequel tckthe New Year disturbance at Te Araroa, 16 Natives were charged -with having assembled for an unlawful^-purpose. The informations were dismissed. Two ■ others, charged with an assault causing bodily harm to a publican, were committed for trial. Another Native, charged with , hitting a Native girl on the head with a r‘ beer bottle, was remanded, the police stating that it was a serious case. '
