TECHNICAL COLLEGE BOARD
The regular meeting of the Board of Management of the King Edward Technical College,, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs T. Scott (chairman). J. Wallace, G. Clark, W. Burt, J. Horn, M.P.. D. Lamach, R. H. Todd, E. F. Duthie, B. Rosevear, W. Scott, Dr Colquhoun, and the Hon. G. M. Thomson. The report, of fhe Finance Committee submitted by Mr Duthie. recommended for payment accounts totalling, £4BB 11s 6d, /monthly salaries of teaching staff and director £577 ISs, and other salaries £lO7 13s Bd. The report was adopted. 1 The Hon. G. M. Thomson and the director and the chairman were appointed a committee to draw up the annual report required for the Minister of Education. The director reported as follows:—The Technical High School reopened on Wednesday, February 2, and the attendance is now slightly in excess of that for the opening week last year. The , total enrolment to date ig 378 pupils, distributed over the courses as follows Commercial 151 girls and 52 boys, industrial 119 boys, domestic 56 girls. Mr C. R. Smith, the recently appointed instructor of agriculture, entered upon his duties on the Ist inst, and there are already indications that under his charge the training provided in the agricultural course i will be much more efficient. Owing to the shipping troubles, Miss C. S. White, domestic science teacher, has been detained in Sydney, but expects to be able to reach Dunedin within a week. Preparations are being made for the et'ening classes to begin on March il. The part-time teachers should be notified of the alterations in the rate of payment under the recently issued regulations.
