GABY DESLYS
What may be termed a fitting tribute to G*oy ueslys, a iittiie' iragiie beauty who charmed the world, is trie picture, “Ihe God ox Lubk,” which.is to be screened at the Queen’s Theatre to-morrow. Gaby, who was originally a dancer* rose to a front rank position on the French and British stage. Her .first London, appearance was made in the Alhambra, and she was an instantaneous success. It was only of latter years that she appeared in the screen dramas, and her advent in this class of work was as sensational as her former career. In “The God of Luck” the scenario writer has practically, presented a picture of Gaby’s achievements. Just as the dancer was in real life, so is she on the sore© n - Jt “ 1116 last film in wluc “ the late Gaby Deslys played- As a film jfc has all the artistry associated with French productions, and the dramatic romance of the story is made doubly interesting because of the series of exquisite and picturesque scenes which form the background of the picture. As a record of Gaby Deslys, however the picture is both unique and wonder ful ’ Gaby’s role is absolutely characteristic of the real Gaby, and the story introduces quite a number of little things, such as toe love of luxury and jewels which the public has learned to associate with her name. The finale, to the picture is most wonderful—the actual foretelling of her death bv the artiste herself—and it is interesting to record that Gaby herself altered the scenario in order to reveal her presentiment. “God of Luck” will bo screened at the Queen’s Theatre, commencing to-morrow.
