O’BRIEN’S EMPIRE THEATRE

A change of programme at O’Brien’s Empire Tiieatre had a cordial reception yesterday afternoon and evening. The ciiief item on the programme is occupied by a comedy with muen quaint originality about it entitled "Sick Abed.” Wallace Reid is the hero, a young man who in helping a friend wtio is having trouble with lua wife is persuaded to act the part of a sick man. This he does for a time most unwillingly and half-heartedly, till one day Dainty Bebo Daniells comes cm the scene in the guise of a new nurse far him. After this the hero’s chief aim in life is to prolong his illness indefinitely. Any number of ludicrous situations arise, and Wallace Reid is constantly contributing irresistibly humourous touenes to the scene. 'I he climax of the picture is in every way a fitting one 'iho Paramount Weekly Gazette contains among other interesting views pictures ol Miss Bleibtre.v and other world-lain ous swimmers; of the groat election convention at Chicago of Governor Cox and his wife; and of seaplanes acting as scouts for fishing vessels. The Paramount Magazine gives some interesting examples of trick kinemategraphy and beautiful views of the night lights of New York A bright comedy, “ Kids is Kids,” with Mr and Mrs Carter de Haven in the chief roles, completes the programme. Music from “Ma.ritana” rendered as an overture by the strong and well-trained Empire Orchestra was much appreciated
