HOSPITAL BOARD REPORTS

Following are the principal clauses in the Hospital Board reports; The Benevolent Committee reports that during the past month one person has been admitted to, five discharged from, and two deaths have occurred at the Otago Benevolent Institution. At present 140 inmates remain. The Sanatorium Committee reports that permission has been granted to increase |he domestic staff by the appointment of an assistant laundress. By this appointment the whole of the laundry work is to be carried out at the institution. The Hospital Committee , reports that Messrs John Chambers and Son have now delivered the boilers and pump on site at the Dunedin Hospital, and ask for progress payment of the sum of £2253. The engineer and architects have been instructed to report as to the installation of new boilers. The Finance Committee reports that the chairman of the Taieri County Council has been requested, in conjunction with the member of the riding of that local body, to call a meeting of the Middlemarch residents to appoint a committee to take charge of the proposed hospital at Middlemarch, as is done in other centres where cottage hospitals are established. The members of the board to visit and address such meeting when called. Paysheets and accounts, amounting to general account £BB4O 4s 6d, and Campbell interest account £147 9s 3d, have been passed for payment.
