CARNIVAL REGATTA

RECORD ENTRIES. Amazing entries have been received for the Otago Bowing Association’s annual regatta to & held in Dunedin Harbour on Friday, February 11. Entries have been received from Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Invercargill, Blufi, Riverton, and all the local clubs, making an aggregate entry of 107. In one race—Youths’ Fours—there are 12 crews entered, and this will be the largest number, of contestants in any four-oared race ever' held in New Zealand. In fact, taking the entries on the whole, it will undoubtedly be the biggest regatta ever seen in the dominion. In addition to the towing events, swimming races will be held, and as the New Zealand championships are being held in Dunedin next week, no doubt all the champions will be soon' in the harbour.

Maiden Double Sculls.—Riverton, Queen’s Drive, Avon (2), Timaru, Invercargill, Railway (2), Otago, North End, Fort Chalmers Youths’ Double Sculls.—Otago, Invercargill Railway, Timaru, Avon (2), Queen’s Drive, Port Chalmers.

Junior Fours.—Queen’s Drive, Avon, Invercargill Railway, Otago, North End, Awarua. Junior Double Sculls.—Otago, Invercargill Railway, Avon (2), Queen’s Drive, North End, Port Chalmers. Senior Double Sculls.—Queen’s Drive, Avon (2), Invercargill Railway, Port Chalmers.

The annual Interprovincial Fours between Otago and Southland, for the Edmond Challenge Shield, will also be rowed. The following are the representative crews:— Southland.—S. Shepherd (stroke), T.
