MERCHANT TONNAGE
DECREASED BUILDING OPERATIONS. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 11. (Received Jan. 11, at 8 p.m.) Lloyd’s Register shows that the merchant tonnage built in the United Kingdom at the end of the year totalled 3,708,916 tons, which is a decrease compared with the September tonnage. The vessels commenced during the last quarter totalled 139,000 tons below the average of the previous six quarters.-i-A. and N.Z. Cable. *
