THE RAILWAY ESTIMATES
0 WEST COAST PROTEST. (I'kr United Press Association.) WESTPORT, October 26. At a full mooting of the Buller Progress League, representing the following bodies— West-port Borough Council. Buller County Council, Wcstport Harbour Board, Buller Farmers' Union, Wcstport Labourers' Union, Amalgamated Society Railway Servants, School Committees' Association, Engine-drivers and Firemen's Union, the Butler branch of the Karamea Farmers' Union, Buller A. and P. Association. Westport Business Men's Association, Coal Creek Miners' Party, Domain Board, and many spirting clubs and associations in the Buller district —it was decided: That this meeting strongly protests against the small vote on the Estimates for the Buller Gorge railway, since the national importance of the railway, both from the point of view of coal production and a defence standpoint was clearly and forcibly placed before the Prime Minister and the Xlinistcr of Public Works by the representatives of the league when in Wellington, and asks that this line roccive consideration on the Supplementary Estimate*.
