The Otago Amateur Swimming Club, in its thirteenth annual report, states as follows-—"The past season was a fairly busy one, but on account of tho very had weather in the spring the season was somewhat short, necessitating the openiSg carnival being held in February, instead of December. This carnival was a great succes--and tho swimming was up to the usual standard. Ihe annual carnival, which was to have been held in Slay, was very disappointing. Owing to small number of entries and the lack of support of those concerned in the welfare of swimming, this gala had to be postponed. The finances of the club are still very satisfactory, and the amount in hand-namely, £14 10s 3d—is greater than at tho commencement of the season. It is said that the coming season promises to be the most important season for a number of years, on accoqnt of the rscw Zealand championships being held hero in February next. DUNEDIN GUN CLUB. The Dunedin Gun Club instituted four clay bird competitions ytsterday. which proved most successiul. Despite the fact that the weather conditions militated against a large attendance of spectators, the number of competitors exceeded the expectations of the committee. Mr R.
