CENSORSHIP OF FILMS
ALLEGATION OF INFLUENCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, October 25. An allegation that the Censor of Picturo Films had complained of political pressure preventing him. from being as severe on iilms as he would like to be, was quoted from a Manawatu paper in the House* of Representatives to-night by Mr W H Ficid (Otaki), who mentioned the matter', and asked the Minister of Internal Affairs whether there was any truth in the statement. Tho Hon. G.J. Anderson said $afc the censor had denied saying anything- of tho kind. In fact, added the Minister, shortly after assuming ofEco h«. himself, had mot tho picture people, and told them that objectionable films, posters, and advertisement would not bo tolerated. Tho censor had been told to bo just as strict as he was reasonable.
