LONDON, September 27. Reports from the Continent state that widespread devastation lias been caused by floods in Switzerland and Northern Italy. In tho Upper Rhino and the Rhone Valleys many bridges -were, destroyed. Lakes Maggioro and Como overflowed, and the towns of Liguria and Como are partially submerged. There arc heavy losses of property in the submerged areas. —Renter.

Tho latest report of tho floods in tho Upper Maurienne state that the damage is estimated at £2,000,000. Factories sull'ercd most seriously, and houses and chalets were swept away. Tho Rhone burst its banks at several places, tho torrents overwhelming villages and destroying building and bridges. Tho situation at Frulia, owing to floods, is especially grave.
