Owing to the unsatisfactory season, the membership showed a further falling off. The revenue amounted to £5S 14s. 6d and the expenditure to £41 10s sd, leaving a surplus of £17 4 S id. Before proceeding to tho business of the meeting the Chairman referred to the death of Mrs Leadb-sHer, in whom the club had sufiered a severe loss, Mrs Leadbetier havevinced the same enthusiam in regard to it that she had always displayed in her numerous other interests. A motion of condolence with Mi Leadbetter in his lc6s was carried, members standing. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the Chairman said that the last three years had not been at all favourable, the fates having been very unkind. The beach was undoubtedly the best and healthiest playground the city had, and it was worth spending money on. It required a lot of lookmg after, and he thought the work now going on would prove of value. He referred to the fact that the swimming championships and the Nelson Shield surf competition would be held in Dunedin next February. With regard to finance, the chairman said a good deal of money would need to be spent on the pavilion. A few years ago their subscriptions totalled £100 mora than at present.
