Tho monthly meeting of the Dunedin. Head Masters' Association was held lost Friday night, when Mr W. J. Strong presided. There was a considerable amount of discussion on the recently published figures purporting- to prove that there -was undue retardation of pupils in certain) schools. String exception was taken to the statement appearing in the press that head masters were actuated by selfish motives in not promoting pupils. The following motion was carried unanimously:—" Wlukt welcoming • fix* discussion on education this association takes strong exception to the imputation of unworthy motives to the Lead masters in their classification of pupils, and especially indignantly resents as an insult tho statement that head masters faiil to promote pupils in order to increase their salaries."
