Pi-cse Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 24. (Received Sept. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) The emigration of ex-servico men is proceeding strongly. Tho approved applications, exclusive of dependents, during August numbered: For Canada, 931; Australia, 450; New Zealand, 214; South Africa, 138 ;—bringing the total since the inception of the scheme to: Canada, 6292; Australia, 3655; New Zealand, 2555; South Africa, 1103;— totals for all dominions, 28,758. Each application on an average carries two dependents, thus bringing the total approved applicants to over 60,000. The expenditure incurred by the Imperial Government on account of passages exceeds £300,000. Twenty thousand applications, covering 50,000 souls, including dependents, await approval. Canada witt discontinue the reception of applications after September, owing to the approach of -winter, and it is anticipated that the applications for Australasia will oe proportionately increased.—A. and N.Z. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO EMIGRANTS.

LONDON, September 24. (Received Sept. 26, at 5.5 p.m.) The Overseas Settlement Committee Is supplementing the free passages to exservice men with grants for the purchase of equipment for the voyage. In special cases the committee is assisting to finance the ex-service men settling in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa in a similar way to Mr Bellis's Victorian scheme. The money is allocated to the directors of the schemes, -whether Government or private, to expend on behalf of the settlers. The national relief funds had already advanced the committee £250,000 for these purposes, and another £250,000 would be available -when necessary A and N.Z. Cable.
