x j al , monthl y meeting of the Green Island bchool Committee was held on Wednesday, Mr T. Tomkius being m the chair. Messrs J. Orr, A. ,iJorlcy, H. Harraway, A., Ivan©, J. C. Lindsay, J. G. Lindsay, find "W Jolmston were present. Die "Read master reported tho attendance as seriously affected owing to sickness, the average for tho month being 270. The inspector's report of tho recent school examination was presented and considered. Several committeemen expressed their pleasure at receiving so satisfactory a report, and a unanimous Vote of congratulation to the head master and school Kt°aff was passed. The matter of tho retardation of scholars was considered at length, and tho following resolution was unanimously passed: "That this committee, having heard-thehead Master's statement, and examined the echool records and tho inspector's report, is fully satisfied regarding the classification 0 f scholars, and instructs the clerk to write to tho Otago Education Board asking for permission to publish that part of the inspector's report referring to classification."
