TAXATION PROPOSALS
GRIEVANCES.
(Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 23. Replying to a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce Conference, Mr Maseoy said the taxation proposals had been referred to the Public Accounts Committee. The Bill before the House was the result of the labours of that committee. It was possible that in some respects some of Uk claiuses might not be the express opinions of the committee, and during its progress through the House it might require to be amended. During a brief interview to-day the Prime Minister informed the Municipal Association Executive that it need not fear taxation on the revenue from municipal trams, gas, electricity, and water supply. Mr Massey refused to make a definite statement regarding the taxation of municipal debentures on the same basis as compa.ny stock. The grievances could be expressed, he said, when the Bill camo before the House. lie did not think that the municipalities would have any grievances when tho legislation was completed.
