QUALITY OF GAS SUPPLY
IMMEDIATE ACTION URGED. CABINET CONSIDERATION. (Fh'om Oun Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, September 22. Tho President of the Board of Trade (the Hon. E. P. Lee) was asked to-day by Farry (Auckland Central) whether, in view of the findings of tho Auckland Prices Investigation 'itibunal in regard to the composition of gas, ana the serious loss sustained by the consumer, ho would in the meantime, while the Government was prepaa-ing to give legislative effect to the findings, • take immediate steps, tiirough the Board of Trade, to protect the consumer. Mr Parry added that the findings of the tribunal revealed tho same stato oi aJiairs as that shown by investigation two ago. Tins meant that tile consumer had been receiving only 15 shillings worth of gas, for whioli .he paid one pound. Mr Lee replied that evoryono Would admit without question that tho gas companies should not be allowed to aupply an inferior article at the price of puio gas. Mr G. Mitchell (Wellington South): Can you not standariso it ? The Minister said' that it was riot a matter wliioli -was under tihe control of the Board of Tbado at tho present time. The whole question was coming before Cabinet.
