QUEEN'S AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.
onn of y ' T m . SCre , en ada 'Ptation of ono of lan Hay's books. The cir cumstauce of it s authorship alone is an all-sufficient guarantee of its worth The jvitnessed by very large attendances at both theatres yesterday, and the film W L rc ceived with a degree of approbation svhkh augurs well for its success during the r e inainder of its screening. It i s a story \ f the world war in which the armies of the Ahosmade "common cause" against the might and unscrupulousness of Germany and it is enacted and produced in full ac oord with the great theme upon which it is based On the dramatic side it is in virility and the pathos of war that the battlefield scenes are realised and arc said to , be authen tic. Ihere are many lighter touches cf comedy which relieve the nicturo from an undue sombreness. The cast includes such well-known artists as Sylvia Breamer Herbert Rawlinson, Irene Castle, and Lawrence Orossrnith, the last-named bein- the famous English comedian, who makes his debut on tno 4 serecn as Tommy Atkins. "-.The Common Cause" is supported by a. thrilling opening chapter of a Vit-igraph serial smashing Barriers," and a number of other good supporting pictures. The same programme will be screened at both theatres again to-night.
