GalS' In Alexandra finished up tho season uith 20 points each. This necessitated the playing of an extra match to decide tho conqueror. J.his contest was played on the local recreation ground last Saturday before a largo gathering of spectators. A hard game resulted in Galloway's winning, the score being- 9 points to 3. The season will be closed v, ith a seven-a-sido football tournament held under the auspices of tho Vincent oub-union. Tho week's fine weather has brought on the iocal bowling green, which having received a top-dressing, is now looking verv weJl, and gn-es promise of a very fine surfaco f °r the ensuing season. The members of the local tennis club have held their annua meeting, and tho nmmer snorts will soon be underway. Galloway residents are considerably an.t'le f ur tliei- delay in the erection of the bridge over the Man-uherikin The contract for this work was secured' bv a Dunedin contractor several months ago, and tho surrounding settlers were naturally naiiently waiting on a start being made. Roeently it was reported that tho first timber lor this structure had arrived in Dunedin and wa s being railed to the site. It came somewhat as a shock to learn that the contract had been cancelled by the Vincent County Council, tho contractors having asked for an increase in the contract price which tho council refused. The council decided to call for fresh tenders.
