ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A youth named George Robertson, aged 18, employed as a dock hand on the steamer Westmeath was admitted to the Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from a compound fracturc of the left arm, sustained through falling down the vessel's hold as she was lying at the Victoria wharf. Mr James W. Thomson had tho misfortune to fall off a tramcar near Manse street last evening, and struck his head on tli© roadway. It is not thought that his injuries aro likely to have any serious result. Tho Coroner (Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) yesterday afternoon held an inquest concerning the death of Mrs .le.=sie Froser Hughes, a widow, about 72 years of ago, who had been residing with her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs and Mr F. Fastier, at 186 Castle street. Xhe evidence of the deceased lady's relatives ivaa that she had. recently been troubled with heart weakness. At about 6 p.m. on Tuesday she complained of feeling unwell, and went to bed, where she was found dead by Mrs Fastier about three hours later. Dr Fergus said that death was due to fatty degeneration of the heart, and a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony was returned.
