o The fortnightly meeting o£ the Port Chalmers Borough Council was held yesterday evening, and was attended by Cra Tait (in the chair), Coleman, M'Lachlan, Jones, Mawson, M'Donald, Love, Allen, Lunn, and Isbister. Resolved to 'send messages of sympathy relatives of the late Captain John M Donald and to relatives of the late Mr J. Mead, and Mr R. Holden. CORRESPONDENCE. In reference to the council's application for a field gun as a war trophy, Major Dampen wrote stating that the matter of distributing these weapons was under consideration at Headquarters, and the decision arrived at would be communicated to the council. —Received. The Waimari County Council wrote asking for assistance in urging the Government to pass legislation allowing hospital boards to borrow money for permanent buildings, the Government to-pay a subsidy on all money so raised.—Finance Committee to report. Mr H. Stevens and nine other ratepayer-: wrote asking that a street light be installed at the top of the track by the old cemetery i'to writers also directed attention to the very muddy state cf the road near tae bcott memorial cairn.—Referred to •Lugating and Works Committees. Mr G.
