MOSGIEL COURT
Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court on Friday at Mosgiel. Obscene Language.—Frank E. Watson was fined £2 (court costs 13s) for using obscene language at Outram on April 5. The same offender was fined 20s (court costs lis) for throwing a glass at the licensee of the Terminus Hotel, Outram.
James Quested was charged with driving his motor car on the wrong side of the road at Wingatui.—Adjourned to August 20. Alex. Ellis proceeded against David Ruthven for the theft of a piece of harness and for assault. He aiso proceeded against Eobert Hnthven for threatening behaviour.—All three cases were adjourned, to be heard at Dunedin on Julv 14.
The Noxious Weeds Inspector proceeded against John E. Jones and John M'Leary (Brighton) for offences under the, Woxious Weeds Act.—Fined 10s and costs, and £5 and costs respectively. The following fines were inflicted for' the riding of breycles on the borough footpaths:—Win. Chadwick and Jas. Jl'Ansland, 10s and 7s (costs) each; Wm. Toung and Hubert Walker, 15s and costs (7s); ?<ora Williams and Bosie Pearson, 7s Gd and costs (7s) each; Carnie Jlanderson, 5s and costs (7s). Hugh 'll'Oall proceeded against W. H. Howard for the recovery of rent (£8), and the possession of a house.—Adjourned, to be heard at Dunedin on July 20. John Lush claimed £3 from David M'Niven.— Judgment was given for plaintiff with costs (ss).
