AMUSEMENTS

"One Dollar Bid," which is said to show Warren Kerrigan at his test, is attracting large attendances at the Queen's Theatre. The supporting films are good. There were largo attendances at the various sessions at Everybody's Theatre yesterday, when the fine Mary Piekford feature, "The Hoodlum," was screened. A change of programme will be submitted to-day. At the Mosgiel Pictures to-night the star attraction will be a comedy-drama, entitled "A Pair of Sixes," starring Taylor Holmes. Good supports are promised, which will include episode 13 of "Tile Lishtninc Raider."

vSessue Hayakawa, the celebrated Japanese actor, will make his reappearance in a new picture at Everybody's Theatre to-day, entitled " The Man Beneath." The story conocrns a celebrated scientist and a liativo of India who is hopelessly in love with an aristocratic Scottish lady, whose young sister is about to be married. Before the wediing the young bridegroom receives a letter from an Italian vendetta society which he has joined out of curiosity. He postpones the wedding and goes off to India, where - he confides in the scientist telling him that ho has drawn the lot to execute an offending Italian judge. The scientist promises to save him. He does so, and tlie young man escapes to Scotland Ihe story ends with the parting of the Scottish girl and the Oriental. "The Man °f Might" and other pictures will be included on the programme. The Dunedin Operatic Society is staging :the "Country Girl" in His Majesty';) rhoatrc, from June 14 to 19 inclusive. }s?r Tom Pollard has been hard at work for some time past putting on the finishing touches, and is exceedingly well pleased with the talent at his disposal, and considers the " Country Girl" should prove one of the best amateur productions of the srason. The ballet, under the direction of Mrs W. D. Wyatt, promises to be of a high order.
