G-ononilly Bpeaking-j B:unplr.3 aro well XLp to th* quality of autumn deliveries, but in some instances wheat is affected by tho weather. A fair quantity of oats has changed hatnds durinpr the prioos remaining on tho same level as previous quotations. Tlio trading hus, however, be?n mostly among nierchants, and farmery aro not offering" supplies. Th-o opinion among local morclian r t« is that Canterbury prices aro too high to allow of track) to any extant boing dono with Australia. Busings in dim if ha<t Ira quiet. There aro large quantities of chaff, which have Wn sold, still in tho country awaiting delivery, but as there is now a boiler supply of railway trucks, consignments aro steadily commg into tho stores. Lack of coastal shipping still continues. Transactions in tho JNorth Island are alao being delayed owina to wet weather. There lias not been much business effected m potatoes this week, end there has been practioally no shipping to tho North Island 0 ruling rate remanns at £4 p© v ton, at country stations; but a few linos have bee®, •purchased at .£3 15s. Onions aro freely purchased at country stations at from £6 to £G l(b per km. This year's crop, generally speaking is not keeping eound, and, except for odd lines, merchants are not inclined to buy for exportbusiness. A cablegram from Sydney stated that onions chapped to Sydney on the Tarawora were landed in good condition, and sold ai £13 to £14 per ton. Considering tho pnoo quoted! locally, there does not appear to lx> any margin of profit.
