EMPIRE AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.
The new leading • picture at the Empire and King Edward Theatres is a fino production of Cynthia Stockley's African romance. It is a stirring Gim„ and is sure to have a successful season-, in Dunedin and become a favourite with patrons of these two houses of entertainment. Nbrma Tahnadge has the leading role a's Poppy Destin, a waif of the streets. She runs away from home, and is befriended by Abinger, who later marries her, the ceremony being- performed in French, and Poppy told that it is .merely a formal adoption. Abinger keeps his secret until Poppy reaching womanhood, demands that she be permitted to make outside acquaintances as sho is kwit a prisoner in Abinger's home. She falls in love with another man and then" learns that she is thi wife of Abinger. How she carries out her determination/ to make her own way in tho world, and finally returns to face both men who have come into her life, and win her happiness makes a and dramatic story. There is a good supporting programme, including a Gazette and a comedy Special music is supplied by the Empire orchestra at that theatre.
