YOUTH WORKERS' INSTITUTE
The fourth Otago Youth Workers' Institute, under the j.uspicee of the Dunedin Presbytery, opened in Knox' Sunday School buildings last night, the Eev. J, C. Jamieson (Moderator of the Presbytery) presiding. The programme, which will bo continued throughout the week, provides each night for a platform address of an inspirational nature, followed by three sectional meetings—Bible' class, general Sunday school work, and primarv Sunday school. The Rev. R S. Watson addressed the combined meeting last night on "The Essential Aims of the Youth Movement." He divided the essentials into four divisions: — (a) To turn out the best citizens, which meant good all-round men and women, (b) The youth worker should be content to have limited functions. _ If he or she were satisfied that the physical and mentaj needs were being well attended to elsewhere, the work should be confined to the moral and spiritual side, (c) To centre upon individual work, (d) To decide definitely what one was out to achieve. .* In the Bible class section the Rev. Hector Neilson commenced a series of studies of the Gospel of St^Mark. Mr A. S. Kennedv dealt with "The Needs of tho Scholars" in. the general Sunday Rohtfel sect'on, while in the primary section Mr J. Reid spoke on "The Nature and Needs of the Primary Scholar," omphasisln.w sioccially the need for better rooms and equipment for. this part of the school. The platform address to-night .will be given bv the Rev. R. M. Ryburn, convener of the Assembly's Yonth Committee, on "Co-opemt-'on nnd Tho institute_ supper will take place at the close of to-night's meeting.
