A SUDDEN DEATH

Wallace Macquaid, a. single man, 64 years of ago, living at Forbury road, St. Clair, died suddenly early on Saturday morning. An inquest was held yesterday at the Morguo by Mr H. Y. Widdowson (corona-), Sergeant Thomson representing the police. Deceased's sister, Emily Macquaid, said tlie deceased was a retired .fruiterer. Ten months ago he met with an accident, being thrown from a horse, and receiving an injury to his head, ,which necessitated treatment at the Hospital. Hβ was unconscious for about six weeks, and cm his recovery was not the same as before. Ten days ago he contracted a catarrhal cold, and on Thursday ho went out and caught a chill. Witness found him at about 4 c-'clock in the front room, when be was sick, and complained of a cold in tfee chest. Witness gave him some brandy. Deceased remained m bed on Friday till 3 p.m., and went book to bed at 4.30 p.m. About 3 o'clock on Saturday morning witness heard a sound in hor father's bedroom, which was next to her own, and on going in found her father had partly fallen out of bed. Ho was just breathing, and could not do anything for himeolf. Witness came to the conclusion that he wae dying, and Dr Harrison was telephoned for. Dt Will came, and said her father was dead. Dr Harrison enrao later. Dr Harrison stated that when ho was colled in he was told that the man was dead. There was no mark of injury or violence on tho body. From a postmortem examination witness found that thore was marked congestion of the lungs, practically pnoumonio at the apex of the right lung. The heart was markedly enlarged, very fatty, kdA with valvalur tendency. Thr i. : '' Jieys were congested. The cause of death wae hoart failure, due to the condition of the hinffs, and the diseased state of thn heart. A slight cold recently would have boijn dunprfiroaK).
