WILD WEST PICTURES
DOES THE CAMERA ME? UTnoii OOH Own Cobbespondbnt.) ■', AUCKLAND, May 22? Approval of tho introduction of the kinematograph into State eohools is expressed by Dr A. P. Newton, who is visiting ■ Auckland just now. . "You will need to be careful, however," he said, "in regard to the class of film used. Whatever you do, be quite sure they are studies from nature, and above all things do not show the children any of those pictures which are 'got up , for-the occasion. I have been in the so-called ' Wild) West' ©£ America, but the life there is just as placid as in New Zealand. Just try to imagine Kansas City being, a place where shooting and lawlessness arc the order of the day. It does'not exist, but that ia not the impression that people, get after seeing some of the films supposed to be representative of Western American life. Incalculable harm may be done by creating wrong impressions in the minds of tho young. It is the real life in different countries that should be represented to the children. This ■would' hum a lasting andi beneficial effect."
