(Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Drunkenness. —A first oii'andar waa fined 20a, with the alternative ol 48 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. Angus jfrmgle waa fined 12s for drunkenness, and lQa tor a breach of a prohibition order, with the alternative of 43 hours' imprisonment in eaflh case.

Unlicensed Stable. —George Woods did not appear to answer a charge of keeping a horse in a building that was not licensed for the purpose.—lnpeotor King gave evidence that deiendant bad had ample, warning that he must not continue to uae this dilapidated building. It was only 17ft from defendant's own dwelling.' The floor was broken and the place waa not drained. —The Magistrate said defendant had had plenty of time to make other arrangements.. He imposed a fine oi with court costs (7s). Defence Prosecution.—The Defence Department, represented by Major Fraser, proceeded against Henry Smith for failing to attend drills duririg April. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and said ho had been transferred to a country corps and' since ho returned to town had been waiting to be transferred again into the Territorials.— Major Fraser said Smith belonged to the cadets till the end of this month. The last parade he attended was on August 25 last. As there had been some misunderstanding tho Magistrate said he wouiu deal with the oose very lightly. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay court costs (7s).
