Tho outstanding feature of the new programme presented at tho Octagon Theatre J? 1 ' tlm6 yesterday is "Heart of tlio Wilds, an adaptation of the play Pierre of tho ■ Plains." It is filmed for tno most part amid tile stately mountains and beautiful valleys of .Yollowstone Park and in tho story Jon G&lbrarth is represented as Jiving with her father, a tavernkeeper, on the Canadian-American border Her brother, _ Val, who live* with them! lulls an Indian who is connected witli the Mounted Police, for making an insulting reference to Jen, and endeavours to csco-pe across tho border. Sergeant Tom Gellatly, of the Mounted Polioe, is entrusted with sealed orders to tho Chief of Polico at Archangel Post and calls at Galbraith's, place, principally to seo Jen, with whom he is m love. Galbraith on hearing that Tim is in pursuit of Val, pour* laudanum into Tom's ooffe©, and' Tom beoomes overpowered by tho drug. Jen, not knowing fiat tho sealed orders are designed to bring about her brother's arreet, oarriea the ordera to the post, and Val's Moape is cut off. Jen, hearing the truth, is horrified, 1 " and seeks to prevent Tom from carrying out his mission. She threatens him with a revolver, which goes off accidentally, and Tom is seriously injured. A cowboy named Pierre, who is in love with Jen, and who baa been the real instigator of tho trouble which resulted in tho death of the Indian, goo to the tavern and discovers Tom. Pierre finds Jen upstairs busy with bandages, and suddenly embraces her. At that moment Val appears, and he is about to kill Pierre when a sefnad of police arrives. Torn declares that ho has shot himself accidentally. Val forces Pierre, at tho point of a pistol, to give himself up ae the real murderer of the- Indian. Tho polico arrest Pierre, and ride off with him, leaving Jen and Tom together' in perfect happiness. Til? supports include a Mack S«nr.ott comedy, a Gray Piotogriph, and a Topioal Gaztytto.
