NEW ZEALAND DAIRY PRODUCE.
MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION, (Peb United Pkess Association.) AUCKLAND, May 20. A proposal is now being submitted to the dairy producers of New Zealand tor tlie eitective marketing ot the whole of the dairy produce of the dominion, 'lhrcc representatives ot the British Co-operative Wholesale Society arc at present in the dominion conducting inquiries, and aro meeting and discussing big proposals with tho leading dairymen. Ino representatives of the society—Messrs W. E. Dudley, Owen Thomas, and P. Coloy—are offering to tho dairy producers of Now Zealand a-scheme of mutual co-operation in tho control and marketmg of their produce, so that it will be received in London and distributed over the British Isles through tho medium of their storey. Up to the present New Zealand produce has really had no identity in Britain, but has simply been taken over by large buyers and used for blending 'with and raising tho quality of inferior artioles. Under the now scheme, if carried into effect, the butter will be wrapped and sold as New Zealand butter, the various well-known brands of the different companies being, of course, preserved. Travelling with tlio English representatives is Mr R. Ellison, the London representative of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand, who is here again after an absence of nine years. Mx Ellison is also fostering a scheme for tho sale of New Zealand dairy produce in England, with the object of securing direct representation ftom New Zealand in the fixing of prices and the general control of their own produce. The schemes were set before a meeting of dairy farmers at Hamilton. a couple of days ago, and will be at the annual meeting of the National Dairy Association at Palmerston North during show week there.
