BOARDINGHOUSE TRAGEDY

FARM LABOURER'S DEATH. A single young man, named Anthony Patterson, aged 25 years, and a farm labourer by occupation, was found dead in' his room at tho Occidental Hotel about 8 o'clook yesterduy morning, with a bullet wound in the centre of his forehead. The body was lying partly on tho bed, and its position suggested that deceased must hnve shot himself while sitting on tho bed. A .22 Stevens- rifle, with a discharged cartridge, was lying on tho floor of tho room, and a box of cartridges was on the dressingtable.

The body was removed to the Morgue, where an inquest will be opened at noon to-day.
