SCOTTISH CONCERT

The second of two concerts given under the auspices of the Dunedin Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand in aid of the prize fund for 'the championship piping and dancing competitions was given last night in Burne Hall, which was filled in every part by an enthusiastic audience. This enthusiasm made itself manifest in hearty reoalls, practically ©very number being encored, so that the concert was considerably lengthened. The programme was tni a large extent the same as that given on Monday night, those who repeated their items (and to the evident satisfaction of the audience) being: Dunedin Highland Pipe Band; Highland dancea (reels, Sean triubhais," and sword dance), Winnie Robinson, Beiikh King. T. and V.' Patterson); songs, Misses Jessie Miller and Madge Torrancc, and -Mr W. Harrison; recitation, Mr S. H. Osborn; humorous song, etc., Mr J. S. Deaker. In place of the Knikorai Brass Band, Beath's Stnnff Bnnd was. heard to advantage in "Highland Wreath." A new vocalist in the person of Mr W. Ewart Crowes, of Wellington, who established himself in the favour of the public at the Orchestral Society's concert last week, added to his laurels by his spirited singing of " The Battle of Stirling" and "The Border." For both ho was recalled, and he had to frive encore numbers. Miss 0. Hughes accompanied the singers artistically, and Piper L. M'Killop supplied excellent music for the dances.
