PLAZA THEATRE

Tho Misleading Widow," with Billie Burke m the title role, heads the bill in the now programme soreened at' the Plaza Dieatre yesterday aiternoon and evening." The play is pure comedy, verging at times on the burlesquo. Miss Burke appears as a pretty young wife whoso husband has loft her for a time on aocount of her grotss extravaganoe. In the littlo town where she lives she is supposed to be a widow, and when a numbeir of officers have to bo billeted in the- town her charming faco and ways win her more than a fair share of the officers attention. Hot excessive hospitality to them lands her in financial difficulties, which she seeks to solvo by forging a telegram announcing her husband's death and then claiming his insurance money. The piquant situations of the piece become yet moro piquant when the husband himajlf, an q«my officer with an assumed name, arrives on the eoeno and is billeted in his own house. " Billie's" reputation is sadly compromised before tho tajiglo is finally straightened out, and husband and wife are happily reunited. The sub-titling of the picture is very effectively and amusingly done. Among the supporting pictures is tho seventh episode in "Iho Grey Seal" serial. It is appropriately called "Devil's Work," and orowds into half an hour as many double-dyed New York underworld crooks and "crime clubs" with their desperate deeds of evil as a reasonable person could hopo to meet in a lifetime.
