(Pp United Press Association.) [ WELLINGTON, May 13. " An important amalgamation of farmers* interests has been agreed upon subject to the confirmation of tho shareholders concerned. Tho Gisborne Sheep Farmers' Frozen Meat Company, apart from its mercantile side, the Tokomaru Bay Works, and tho works now being constructed at Hicks Bay will amalgamate. Tho Gisborne Sheep Farmers' mercantile business, the Tokomaru Trading- Company, the Te Aroha Trading Company, and the, Gisborne Farmers' Cooperative Company , will similarly amalgamate The unity of the Gisborne Sheep Farmers' Company will be maintained. Tho freezing and mercantile branches will be entirely 'separated and controlled by a separate board of directors.
NEW PLYMOUTH, May 13. Polls were taken on the proposals to borrow £72,000 and £57,000 for hydro-electric extensions and streets, etc. The former was carried by 778 to 96, and the latter by 720 to 151. The hydro-electric scheme ( will increase- (he power from 1000 to 3000 horse-power, and is capable of extension to 9000 horse-power.
